Rare leucistic white alligator born at Gatorland — and you can name her

With now two rare species of alligators being bred within Osceola County, is it safe to call these parts "Rare Gatorville" now? Gatorland announced Thursday the birth of an extremely rare leucistic white alligator, which the park is calling, "The rarest genetic variation in the American alligator.

The Festival of Trees, a two-day event at the Church of St. Luke and St. Peter (2745 Canoe Creek Road), takes place on Friday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The community is invited to look at beautifully decorated trees and decorations.

FWC seeks public input on native plant list

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking public input on a draft addendum to the State Wildlife Action Plan. The purpose of this addendum is to incorporate 596 native plant species into the state’s Species of Greatest Conservation Need list.
It is necessary to study our microclimates in our own yards.  I have a list of plants which permanently froze to death in my yard before I did this. Included are Foxtail palms, mango, avocado, poinsettia (pictured), cocoplum, and anthurium. PHOTO/EXTENSION SERVICES

St. Cloud News — Amazing weekend of holiday events in the Cloud

This first weekend of December is an amazing holiday time in St. Cloud. The St. Cloud Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, takes place in front of the (allnew!) City Hall Friday, from 6-9 p.m. Enjoy musical performances, crafts, games and rides, snowslide, a visit with Santa and more.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office will be in Poinciana Saturday as part of the “Together as One Christmas Tour” toy giveaway. The team is touring the County, bringing gifts to special children. On Dec. 2 from 1-3 p.m., the tour comes to the Mary Jane Arrington Gym.
