All hands on deck for East Lake Toho water rescue Saturday
A leisurely Saturday boating trip on East Lake Tohopekaliga turned into an operation that included the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, St. Cloud Police Department, St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department, and even a private resident who just happened to have a boat in the water responded to the scene of a sinking boat nearly two miles from shore.
Body camera video showed that a father and son team with the St. Cloud Police Department’s Marine Unit was part of the multi-agency water rescue after a small boat carrying six people began sinking in the choppy water during the afternoon when wind and rain whipped up the choppy water.

USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
Saturday, May 9 marks the 34th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Participating is simple— just leave non-perishable food donations in a bag by your mailbox Saturday, May 9, and a Letter Carrier will do the rest.
Each year on the second Saturday in May, Letter Carriers across the country collect nonperishable food donations from our customers. These donations go directly to local food pantries to provide food to people who need our help. Currently, more than 47 million Americans are unsure where their next meal will come from. More than 14 million are children who feel hunger’s impact on their overall health and ability to perform in school. Nearly 7.4 million seniors over age 60 are food insecure.
