A Kowtown birthday bash—Kissimmee turns 141

What do you get for someone who’s turning 141, but doesn’t look it? The City of Kissimmee, on the day of its “birthday”, threw the free Kowtown Festival party at the Kissimmee lakefront on Saturday, featuring live music, assorted food trucks, bounce houses and many other activities for the whole family to enjoy. And, of course, what would a birthday party be without birthday cake?.

The Central Florida Animal Reserve’s Big Cat springtime Sip and Stroll fundraising event was Sunday. Guests to the reserve were greeted by wonderful weather—and the equally wonderfullybig tigers and other cats CFAR houses east of St. Cloud.

Osceola History brings back ‘departed’ to tell tales

Osceola History held its annual primary fundraiser Saturday at historic Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee. During “Dine With the Departed,” guests enjoyed a catered meal and bid on items during a silent and live auction. After dinner, groups were guided on lantern-lit tours where they encountered some of the Osceola County “passed” residents, who had a few lively stories to tell about how things were in the county as much as a century ago.

Arts Unlimited—Love, Loss and What I Wore

Travelling theatre group Arts Unlimited’s opening night of Love, Loss, and What I Wore was held at the Museum of Military History Friday, and ran over the weekend. The play showcased nine ladies who brought to life 29 different characters, each with a unique story.

Silver Spurs tradition ‘Rides On’ for an 80th year

Last weekend, Tradition Rode On, just like it has every mid-February in Osceola County for the last 80 years. The Silver Spurs Rodeo, piggybacked with the 80th year of the Osceola County Fair as well, wowed fans, this year for an added fourth performance day to welcome families, with all the ropin’, ridin’ and wranglin’ action in seven traditional rodeo events. All the while, it rodeo remained a constant as a tradition of the heritage of Osceola County.

The 2024 winter rodeo season is in full swing in Osceola County. Saturday morning marked the start of the 80th year of the Silver Spurs Rodeo, with the annual Rodeo Parade through the streets of downtown St. Cloud. The parade captured rodeo’s deep local history that dates back to the 1940s.

Osceola Magic’s Swish celebrates with all his friends!

It was a basketball birthday celebration Thursday night at the Silver Spurs Arena! The Osceola Magic’s mascot, Swish, turned ... oh who knows, and who cares, but it was cause for a celebration, attended by his mascot friends, including Stuff from the Orlando Magic, UCF’s Knightro, the Orlando Solar Bears’ Shades, and an old friend, Stryker from the Florida Fire Frogs. Though Osceola couldn’t find a victory against the Ontario Clippers, it was still a fun time had by the fans, and all of Swish’s friends!
