I-4 East in Osceola to close Sunday night; see where, when, what else

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to close eastbound Interstate 4 from World Drive to U.S. 192 from 11  p.m. on Sunday, July 19, until 5 a.m. Monday morning.

All I-4 eastbound motorists will be detoured via U.S. 192 to State Road 417 ramp lanes and take World Drive north to 192, then turn right to use the I-4 interchange there.

Motorists should also be aware that the U.S. 192 westbound entrance to the I-4 eastbound on-ramp will be closed during the same period, using International Drive to Osceola Parkway to access I-4.

Upcoming, I-4 East will close from ChampionsGate Boulevard to State Road 429 July 26-28 from 12-5 a.m. for road construction. Traffic will exit at ChampionsGate, turn right, then left of northbound Old Lake Wilson Road, to a left on Sinclair Road to southbound 429 to get back to I-4.

The closures will allow crews to complete a traffic shift related to road improvements being delivered by Project 1 of the Moving I-4 Forward Program. Construction activities will require lane closures from 8 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday. The closures will allow crews to shift the I-4 eastbound lanes from west of U.S. 192 to west of Osceola Parkway. Upon completion, I-4 eastbound traffic will shift to newly constructed lanes in the median of I-4. This operation will also relocate the U.S. 192 ramp entrance to eastbound I-4 and the off-ramps to eastbound and westbound U.S. 192, east of their original location. Signs and pavement markings will guide drivers through the new traffic pattern to continue on I-4 or to their intended exit.
