Halloween is supposed to be scary.
While not intended, a person’s wedding day can be scary, too.
If you’re a fan of the scary holiday with impending nuptials, why not combine the two?
The Osceola Clerk of Court and Comptroller Office will host what it bills as “a spooky celebration of love and marriage” on Oct. 31, inviting up to 25 couples during the inaugural Halloween-themed Group Wedding “Scare-A-Mony” and Reception.
Last year, 17 couples, including one renewing their vows, said, “I Boo,” er, “I Do”, at the inaugural event—a unique and unforgettable experience to start lives together.
Just like last year, the event takes place on Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. inside the Historic Osceola County Courthouse, the oldest continually operating courthouse in Florida — joke if you want that the place could be haunted.
Included with the “Scare-A-Mony” is a reception featuring cupcakes, beverages, and themed music that will set the perfect atmosphere for celebration. Each couple will receive a decorative certificate commemorating their special day, themed photo opportunities, and a printed keepsake photo to cherish the memories forever.
Guests and couples alike are encouraged — last year’s couples didn’t disappoint — to embrace the spirit of the season by wearing family-friendly costumes or Halloween attire. Registration is $50 per couple and includes statutory fees. Couples can register for the event at the Osceola County Courthouse during their marriage license application process. Registration is open now until Oct. 27, or when all 25 slots are filled. Given the popularity of last year’s event, couples are strongly encouraged to schedule their marriage license appointments and sign up as early as possible to secure their spot., Osceola Clerk of the Circuit Court & County Comptroller Kelvin Soto said.
“Celebrating love on one of the most festive days of the year is a thrilling experience for us all. Building on the success and popularity of last year’s event, our whole team is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to host this signature celebration. It is a genuine honor to officiate this special day for the passionate couples seeking something fun and unique,” Soto said.
