St. Cloud dominated the lighter classes of Saturday’s Region 3A-3 girls weightlifting meet, capturing three championships to rack up 42 teams points and win the team title. The Bulldogs edged North Port (29) in the 25-team event.

Alex Tuyo scored on two sensational goals to lead Harmony to an impressive 4-0 win over St. Cloud and advance the Longhorns (12-5-2) to Wednesday’s Class 6A, District 7 title game. Harmony hosts Davenport Community Ridge (9-3-0), who blew out Poinciana in the night’s other semifinal, 7-0.

It was a stellar year for Osceola County cross country; several teams and individuals performed well at county, district, regional and state levels. At the end of the run, Celebration’s Jared Falchook and Catalina Edwards are the Osceola News-Gazette Male and Female Runners of the Year.

Should we mention there was a full moon this week? Two days after pulling a major upset with a 66-57 win over state-ranked Windermere, the Osceola Kowboys found themselves in a boys basketball dogfight with cross-town rival Tohopekaliga.

Celebration back on top on OBC boys soccer with 5-0 win over Tigers

The Celebration Storm (8-0-4) wrapped up another Orange Belt Conference boys soccer title Thursday night with a 5-0 win over Tohopekaliga. The victory gave Celebration a 6-0-1 mark in conference play, and was the Storm’s first OBC title since winning three straight from 2017-19.

Major changes proposed for FHSAA football

Major changes could be coming to the way the Florida High School Activities Association runs its football playoffs. Currently, championships are held in eight different classes (1A-8A) and those classifications are determined solely by the number of students enrolled at the school.
