SUNDAY UPDATE:
Another Powerball drawing, another rollover to Monday night.
Nobody claimed the top prize and matched all white ball numbers (1, 28, 31, 57, 58) and the red Power Ball (16) Saturday night, meaning Monday night's top prize will be an estimated $1.1 billion, with a cash value of $503.4 million according to lottery officials.
Saturday night, tickets in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey and Virginia matched all five of the white balls and won $1 million or $2 million with the Power Play.
As always, the winning numbers will be drawn live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time (get your tickets by 10 p.m.) and streamed live on Powerball.com.
We're throwing the word "billion" around again when we talk Powerball!
The top jackpot for Saturday's near-nationwide drawing has again reached the $1 billion mark. Nobody matched the five white balls (10, 16, 29, 33, 69) and the red Powerball 22 again on Wednesday. The big bucks haven't been won since Sept. 6; that $1.787 billion prize split between winning tickets in Missouri and Texas was the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever and remains the most recent jackpot victory.
Tickets bought in New Jersey, Maryland and Michigan matched all five white balls for $1 million.
“Excitement is building as players look forward to Saturday night’s drawing for this historic jackpot,” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO. “We encourage everyone to play responsibly and take pride in knowing that every $2 ticket also helps support good causes in their community.”
Should you get extra-super lucky and win the jackpot, the lump-sum cash value of the prize is $461.3 million. Those choose to be billionaires would get it over 30 annual payments.
You win something if you at least match the red ball ($4), or more with matching at least three white numbers, and more with a combination of those. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Meanwhile, you have a 1 in 15,300 chance of being struck by lightning in your lifetime, a 1 in 13.7 million chance of getting killed in a plane crash, and 1 in 11.5 million chance of being attacked by a shark.
As always, the winning numbers will be drawn live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time (get your tickets by 10 p.m.) and streamed live on Powerball.com. Good luck players!
