A proposal to allow an RV park to be built on a track of land east of Hickory Tree Road scheduled for tonight has been postponed.
Over the last few weeks nearby residents, especially those from the neighborhood Hanover Lakes community, have gone door-to-door to alert neighbors of the project, turned to social media to voice their concerns and, four weeks ago, turned out to the Osceola County Commission meeting when the board was scheduled to take up the matter.
It was continued until the March evening meeting, scheduled for tonight, but the agenda produced shows the items that would amend the comprehensive plan and zoning for the land have again been postponed until a meeting scheduled for Monday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m.
The proposed 35-acre development would be south of Alligator Road, as currently drawn up, would allow 130 RV parking spaces. That would created a residential density that County Commissioner Ricky Booth, whose District 5 includes the area, said residents he's spoken to say isn't compatible with
"The county is exploring options regarding the property," Booth said Monday morning.
