When you buy a home that’s being built from the ground up, the process can take months, or years, before you move in.
What if the process took just … two weeks?
That’s what new Kissimmee home owners Quarlisa and Tannique experienced—as home builders Park Square Homes and PCL Construction embarked on a “Builders Blitz” through Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County.
Through Builders Blitz 2025, the builders broke ground on Jan. 25, and delivered the homes on Lincoln Street off Martin Luther King Boulevard, on a gentrified block featuring new homes, including the two three-bedroom, two-bath homes dedicated Friday, and another Habitat for Humanity home built right next door in late 2024.
This is the 11th time that Park Square Homes and 4th time that PCL Construction, along with over 50 subcontractors and vendors, donated all the labor and materials. The city of Kissimmee and Osceola County donated the lots, while the new residents had to apply, take courses on homeownership, provide some of the work, and establish their employment.
They are purchasing the homes with competitive-interest mortgages.
Quarlisa, who works in corrections, will move into one of the homes with her son, and daughter ages 10 and 12—who will be getting their own rooms for the first time. She shed tears of joy at Friday’s dedication.
“I want to thank those who have been on the journey with me,” she said. “What’s happened in two weeks … I’m amazed.”
She said the home represents the growth and future of her children and family.
“This home will help me create that,” she said.
Tannique, a military reservist who works at a call center, will move from Oviedo to Lincoln Street with her mother and two-year-old son.
“I want to thank everyone who’s helped create a safe and efficient house,” she said. “The journey has not been easy, but Habitat for Humanity works with deserving families. If we can do it, others can, too.”
Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County President and CEO Catherine Steck McManus cited everyone on hand Friday—her team, Tannique and Quarlisa and the builders—for the success of the program.
“All of you are the recipe for success,” she said. “Housing is the cornerstone of transforming a community. Habitat Orlando & Osceola is driven by a belief that everyone deserves a stable, affordable place to live.”
