A day after giving out backpacks with school supplies — for the fifth year — to 276 children across 163 families on a day with several of the same events on the same day, local non-profit A Hero For Kids was chosen to be one of eight Central Florida groups to be featured on a LYNX Public Service Bus for 2023-24.
The Public Service Bus travels routes every day throughout a three-county area that includes Osceola.
“We’re one of eight on there for their 20th year. The cool thing is that we can request the bus for one of our events,” said A Hero For Kids’ John Kalish, a.k.a. Batman. “How cool will it be to pair the Lynx bus with our Bat Bus at our Christmas For the Kids drive-through event (in December)?”
At Saturday’s Back2School Celebration, 34 teachers picked up teacher gift bags. Other schools received supplies to give out on campus when school starts this week.
