A final farewell for Dr. Pace

A couple hundred well-wishers came out to the Osceola Heritage Club Friday to offer their thanks to Dr. Debra Pace, who wrapped up a career in education in Osceola County that started in 1986. Pace was a teacher, dean, principal, county administrator and the Osceola County School District superintendent.

She announced her retirement effective the end of June, and current and former co-workers – and young family members – and other dignitaries came out to offer gifts, hugs and wish her the best in retirement.

“This isn’t a job one person could do alone,” she said, thanking the many teachers, staffers, and her family. “It truly takes a village to do this work. I don’t love big celebrations but this has been exactly right, to visit and remember the things we’ve done.”
