An Osceola High School for the Arts student has won the local Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Writing Contest The Dr Martin Luther Ling Kr Writing Contest was open to middle and high school age students in Osceola County.

MARTIN LUTHER KING UNITY CELEBRATION The city of Kissimmee sponsored and hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration on Saturday. After the morning’s parade, adults, children and families made their way to Kissimmee Lakefront Park on Lake Tohopekaliga for the afternoon festival.

Sheriff, state attorney in dispute over Montalvo case

The case of slain St. Cloud mother, Nicole Montalvo, has gone all the way to Tallahassee amid a public dispute between the sheriff and the state attorney. At stake is the prosecution of Montalvo’s husband, Christopher Otero-Rivera, 31, and his father, Angel Rivera, 63, for her murder.

Kissimmee police searching for shooting suspect

The Kissimmee Police Department is currently searching for a suspect who shot a man at a local apartment complex on Monday. At about 9:30 p.m., Kissimmee police received a call that shots were fired at the Outrigger Apartments, 1701 W. Mabbette St.

Solar Bears defeat Gladiators, 7-3 Trevor Olson led the way with a career-high four points and the Orlando Solar Bears (15-15-4-1) scored a season-high four goals in the first period on their way to a 7-3 victory over the Atlanta Gladiators (16-20-0-0) on Wednesday night at Infinite Energy Arena.

OSCEOLA COUNTY Plans to develop four hotels on about 200 acres of county-owned land at Osceola Heritage Park and NeoCity are now underway. The Osceola County Commission last month voted to work with Riviera Point Development Limited, out of Miramar, Fla. on the project.
