OCOA offers energy-saving weatherization program

Whether it be our Central Florida hurricane season, the extensive rainy summer months or simply when temperatures outside rise or drop below normal, the Osceola Council on Aging (OCOA) wants to make sure residents of our community are safe and secure in their homes.

On Saturday, the fire departments of Osceola County, Kissimmee, and St. Cloud combined forces at Osceola Heritage Park for their first-ever Fire Safety Fest, an event part of National Fire Prevention Week.

Kissimmee’s Blanco featured in documentary

Mateo Blanco, a Colombian-American and longtime Kissimmee resident and artist recently made his film debut in “Caged Bird,” a short documentary about his artistic journey and Colombian heritage. Mateo Blanco is a successful artist and entertainer and has lived in Osceola County for 10 years.

Faced with a motion to deny its proposal, a developer who planned a multi-story apartment and townhouse project on 31 acres along Narcoossee Road south of Rummell Road withdrew its application to build at Thursday’s City Council meeting.

Kissimmee recognizes local Hispanic artists at City Hall

The Kissimmee City Commission at its Tuesday meeting recognized five artists, and is displaying their work at City Hall during Hispanic Heritage Month through Nov. 5.
