The Osceola Council on Aging held a virtual Golden Anniversary brunch celebration Oct. 7, complete with meals from Big John’s Rockin BBQ. Over $10,000 was raised through about 225 prepared meals of chicken and waffles — many delivered to sponsors and Meals on Wheels clients as pictured.

SkyWater seeks DOD approval at NeoCity

SkyWater Technology is seeking approval from the U.S. Defense Department to make Osceola County a “trusted foundry” site for military semiconductor production.

Help Now: Educate kids and teens about domestic violence

Better COVID-19 case news in local schools and across state

There is good news at the county and state levels regarding COVID-19 risk numbers. According to daily totals from the Center For Disease Control’s (CDC) Data Tracker (covidactnow.org), Florida has trended into the “High” category for Vulnerability, or overall COVID-19 risk.

A 34-year-old Kissimmee man died in an accident Tuesday on Interstate 4 that tied up traffic into the mid-morning hours. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 1:15 a.m. the Toyota Tundra he was a passenger in rear-ended a tractor trailer at Mile Marker 65 near Osceola Parkway.

County, KFD christen new life-saving engines

Local fire departments have put recently-acquired equipment into service to enhance public safety in Osceola County. At Station 63 on Cross Prairie Parkway, County Fire Rescue and EMS official put a new engine into service Wednesday with a time-honored at traditional “push back” ceremony.
