A St. Cloud man was killed Wednesday morning when the car he was riding in was involved in a pre-dawn accident at U.S. Highway 192 and Nova Road, Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

Kissimmee’s “Pearl” sings in weekend opera

When Opera Orlando’s premiere of the one-act chamber opera “The Secret River” opens Friday night at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Kissimmee’s Lilyanne Tindell will be part of the show’s children’s choir.

St. Cloud has a new top cop

The City of St. Cloud doesn’t just get a new calendar in 2022. It gets a new police chief as well. Douglas Goerke, a Patrol Division commander for the Orlando Police Department, has been hired as the new St. Cloud police chief.

Kissimmee’s Carino takes top-3 Miss USA spot

Kissimmee’s own Ashley Ann Carino Barreto said she’ll look back on 2021 as quite the journey. Carino, who won the title of Miss Florida USA in July in her first beauty pageant, earned the title of Second Runner-Up at last week’s Miss USA pageant at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Okla.

Kissimmee completing $3.3M airport lighting project

On the west end of Patrick Street, a couple blocks from Osceola High School, a new airfield lighting facility under construction at Kissimmee Airport was recently “topped off ”.

Recycling bins donated for Osceola High contest

If members of Osceola High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC unit come to you asking for empty Amazon boxes, you can hand them over for a good cause. Know they will be recycled, and you may help a student earn a $500 Amazon gift card. It’s all part of the “Amazon Challenge” that runs through Jan.
