DeSantis signed HB5 in Kissimmee ... but here's what DIDN'T reach his pen — or a vote

Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared in Kissimmee April 14 to sign into law House Bill 5, which bans abortions after the 15-week mark of pregnancy that the state Legislature passed during the recent session. But there were many other proposed bills during session that never reached a vote, let alone his pen.

The Air Force Junior ROTC program at Osceola High School celebrates its 30th year this year. The unit is numbered FL-921 — marking its start in 1992, and the first AFJROTC corps in Osceola County.

OCSA jazz band headed to Ellington Festival

The Osceola School for the Arts band will be returning, for the first time since 2019, to New York’s Lincoln Center for Essentially Ellington, the nation’s premier jazz education event, May 5-7.

Attention Valencia College students: you are now Pumas. The college unveiled its new mascot Tuesday. “In short, pumas go after what they want, and stick with it until they achieve their goal–just like Valencia College students,” an announcement release said.
