GreenPal, a Nashville, Tennessee-based app that connects homeowners with local, vetted lawn care professionals, has expanded to Kissimmee. The service first became available in Orlando last summer.
“GreenPal can be described as Uber for lawn care,” said GreenPal cofounder Gene Caballero. “After successfully launching in 250 other locations, we are excited to help homeowners in Kissimmee find reliable, safe, and local lawn care.”
To use the service, homeowners list their lawns with their desired service date and lawn care needs. Lawn care pros then bid on their properties, based on Google Earth street and aerial images, and other lawn details the homeowner provides. Homeowners can then select who they want to work with based on the vendor’s ratings, reviews, and price.
Once a vendor has completed the service, the lawn care pro will send a time-stamped photo of the completed work. Homeowners pay and make appointments via the app.
“From the homeowner’s side, it’s mainly convenience, and multiple property owners and managers, such as Airbnb, vacation rentals, and realtors really stand to benefit,” Caballero said. “For the vendor, it is a great benefit for how they promote their business. Our app handles the scheduling, the payment processing, and the route optimization, and there is no cost to vendors to bid on properties.”
If there are any disputes, payment is withheld until the landscaper resolves the issue. Potential users still need to check the lawn service’s insurance.

A longtime landscaper, Caballero said he landed a tech job after graduating from college.
“I was privy to newer technologies like Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb, so I knew that if somebody was going to summon a stranger to come pick them up or allow a stranger to come stay in their house, at some point they’d do the same with lawn care,” he said. “It takes someone that knows the ins and outs of the landscaping industry to build a product from the landscaping side of things to pull this off.”
Once GreenPal launched in Orlando late last summer, the large suburbs around the city became the next logical areas for expansion.
“When we typically launch a large market like that, we have a lot of sign-ups in the suburbs of those large markets, like Kissimmee. Since most lawn care professionals don’t travel more than 10 miles, we have to launch all of those markets separately. With that being said, we knew that Kissimmee was one of the first markets we needed to launch this spring.”
Currently, there are over one million homeowners and over 25,000 landscaping professionals using the GreenPal app. Caballero said he looks forward to the app’s success in Kissimmee and expanding it to other sections in Osceola County in the future.
