Governor names Scott Ramsey to vacant School Board Seat 5

Seat vacant since November, will be sworn in July 30

Friday, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of William “Scott” Ramsey to the School Board of Osceola County.

He will fill the District 5 seat on the board that has been vacant since Erika Booth left to to run for the State House of Representatives District 35 special election in November. He is already a candidate in a five-way election for that seat this year; the primary is Aug. 20.

"I had been asked to submit to be appointed (to fill out the term)," Ramsey said. "And we just got the word (Friday). I want to thank Governor Ron DeSantis for entrusting me with this important office. I am committed to making sure every student in Osceola County has the best possible education."

Ramsey, a fourth-generation Osceola County resident, owns and operates Ramsey Cattle, Ramsey Feed Company, LLC and P-R Sod, LLC. A former Silver Spurs Rodeo Big Boss, he still chairs its Rodeo Committee, and is a member of the Osceola County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, among other organizations.

"As we embark on this journey together, let us embrace collaboration, and a shared commitment to educational excellence. Together, we have the opportunity to shape a future where every student thrives," says Osceola Superintendent Mark Shanoff.
