New and familiar Kowboy faces shine in spring game win

Thursday night’s 26-22 spring game win by Osceola over Central Florida power Edgewater on Thursday night featured a little bit of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Good came in the form of first-year starting quarterback Gunner Holland.

All County Boys Weightlifting — Sykes, Balado were the class of the state

Two different athletes that competed in two different weight classes both produced the same dominating results. Harmony’s Isaac Balado and St. Cloud’s Julian Sykes share the Osceola News Gazette’s Boys Weightlifter of the Year honor.

A Storm surge — Celebration athletes moving on to college!

A double-digit number of Celebration High athletes have signed college scholarships to continue their athletic careers at the next level. Thus far, athletes in four sports have signed. Check back in the coming weeks for athletes from other Osceola County schools and their signing photos.

Storm’s Edwards medals twice at state track

Catalina Edwards, the Osceola News Gazette’s Cross County Athlete of the Year, made her bid to also earn Track Athlete of the Year this past weekend as she took double All-State honors at the Class 4A state track meet Saturday in Gainesville.

Schedule change: spring games Thursday

Due to the threat of impending weather, spring football games scheduled for Friday have been moved to Thursday. That includes Edgewater at Osceola, Poinciana at Gateway, and Celebration at George Jenkins, at 7 p.m. Liberty will play at Lake Region at 7:30. St.

Harmony softball season ends in bittersweet playoff loss

Despite an impressive season, Harmony softball’s playoff run ended with Thursday’s 6-0 loss to Melbourne High. Led by head coach Kristi Mindrup, the Longhorns finished the year with a 14-6 record, the best in 8 seasons.

Moving on to the college ranks!

Park Vista uses long ball to end Kowboys baseball season

Austin Fawley hit a grand slam home run and Javi Sato added a two-run shot as Park Vista defeated Osceola, 8-4, in a Class 7A regional quarterfinal playoff game Tuesday. The Kowboys season ends at 21-6. The Cobras (22-5) play Palm Beach Central on Friday.

Osceola County sends large contingent to state track meets

A large contingent of athletes from Osceola County will contend for state titles at the FHSAA Class 1A, 3A and 4A track and field championships this weekend at the University of Florida.
