Winter sports in full swing for Osceola County schools

With the Christmas break over, winter sports in Osceola County are in full swing.  Here’s a look around the county:  Boys’ basketball: City of Life Christian Academy continued its fine season with a 63-58 win over Liberty (2-5) to improve its record to 13-1 on the season.

Osceola freshman Anderson Heap won his weight class and defending state champions Cooper Haase and Jaekus Hines registered runner-up finishes as the Kowboys recorded an 11th place finish at the prestigious Knockout Christmas Classic held at Silver Spurs Arena, Dec. 28-29.

Although the coronavirus continues to frustrate local high school coaches and athletes, winter sports are in full swing at Osceola County high schools as we approach the New Year.

Osceola leads all-county volleyball team with 5 selections

Osceola High School, which made a deep run in the FHSAA Class 7A Playoffs and went undefeated against county opposition, led all county schools by placing five players on the Osceola News Gazette’s All-County Volleyball Team for the 2020 season.

Osceola Kowboys fall short in state title game, 38-10

In the end, it was too many mistakes and too many big plays by a talented opponent.  Osceola turned the ball over five times as the Kowboys lost a 38-10 decision to Sanford Seminole High School in the Class 8A State Championship Football Game on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
