Osceola County Sheriff's Office officials are asking the public if there are any other victims of a Kissimmee man who was convicted this week on multiple charges of lewd and lascivious molestation and battery of a minor.
Scott Arthur Shaw, 64, was found guilty by a jury Wednesday on eight counts in crimes police say occurred between June 2022 and June 2023 on a then 15-year-old male. A Sheriff's Office spokesperson said the agency is concerned there may be more victims as, during trial, Shaw testified that he had mentored and had access to over 150 juveniles prior to his arrest, often providing support for their financial, emotional, and family needs.
"This pattern of behavior is consistent with the circumstances that allowed him to access the victim in this case," a Sheriff's Office report said. "Shaw is also known to have used his position in the community and relationships with prominent community members to gain trust and legitimacy in his mentoring of youth."
Sheriff's investigators are asking anyone who may have been targeted, contacted, or harmed by the accused at any point in the past to safely come forward, knowing that justice is being served. Detectives can be reached at 407-348-2222.
Shaw is scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 30. He remains held in the Osceola County Jail without bond.
