KISSIMMEE NEWS — Register now for group swim lessons

Register now for group swim lessons for ages 6 months and up. These 30-minute group sessions provide a fun and supportive environment for participants to learn and improve their swimming skills. Registration will take place in person on April 11 from 9–11 a.m. at the Bob Makinson Aquatic Center. Session 1 runs April 27 through May 7, and Session 2 runs May 11 through May 21, with classes held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-7:45 p.m. The cost is $60 per session. Get those littles ready to swim for the summer!

Teens entering grades 9–12 are invited to join the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program this summer, a great opportunity to build leadership skills, gain hands-on experience, assist at Camp Discovery, make new friends, and earn community service hours. The program runs June 2-July 24, Monday through Friday, and includes a mandatory training and parent meeting on May 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Oak Street Park Community Center (717 N. Palm Avenue.) Teens who complete 7 out of 8 weeks may be eligible for a refund of the $25 program fee. Applications are open through April 10 and require two references and an interview, which will take place April 20–23. Space is limited. By the way, those summer camps are now open for registration. These camps offer a fun-filled summer with field trips, weekly Aquatic Center admission, extended care, plus breakfast and lunch included. Bring your little king and join us for the Mother and Son Dance, an evening for mothers to share a special night with their sons! This year’s theme is Sneaker Masquerade. Hosted by the City of Kissimmee, the event will take place on Saturday, May 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Chambers Park Community Center.
