St. Cloud’s softball team put together an outstanding 2025 season—the Bulldogs won 20 games, took second place at the prestigious Kissimmee Klassic, regained the Orange Belt Conference championship and won a district title.
And although the young squad had several outstanding players, junior Addison Felblinger was the difference maker for St. Cloud—again.
In the pitching circle, she was the ace, striking out 185 hitters, recording a 2.01 ERA and getting the win in big game after big game. At the plate, she hit .400, drove in 35 runs and collected 39 hits.
Because of the team’s success and her outstanding achievement, Felblinger repeats as Osceola News-Gazette Softball Player of the Year.
“We had a great mix of young talented players and experienced veterans, but Addison was definitely the glue that held it all together,” St. Cloud coach Ray Whobrey. “She’s a tremendous player, a great teammate and a better person.”
A three-year starter and career .400 hitter, Felblinger is quick to credit her teammates for her success.
“It’s not about me—it’s about us,” she says. “We have been close friends for a long time and we care about each other. We do things together off the field and our friendships have created a great chemistry that naturally carries over on the field. “
Although the team got off to a solid 9-4 start, Felblinger said the season really came together in the Kissimmee Klassic, where the team advanced all the way to the championship with wins over Cooper City, Melbourne and Keystone. Despite a loss to powerful Mantanzas in the finals, the run sparked the Bulldogs’ nine-game winning streak, including a 1-0 win over rival Osceola in the OBC finals and a 3-2 win over Harmony in the district championship game.
“The Klassic was a turning point for the team,” Felblinger said. “That tournament seemed to take off the pressure that we were putting on ourselves. We just started having fun.”
As for the future, Felblinger says she is excited about her upcoming senior year but added that softball was just part of the equation.
“We have a lot of good players coming back and my goal is to get better as a player and help this team take the next step. After that, who knows? I think I would like to play at the next level, but I am not overly worried about that. I am interested in pursuing a career in medicine, perhaps radiology, and if I am able to play college softball at the same time it would be great.”
