They have worn the same uniforms since they were five years old. They played on the same kindergarten team, the same youth teams, the same middle school teams, the same AAU team and for the same high school.
Along the way they have won and won a lot.
During the 2025-26 season, they were the main cogs in Osceola High’s Orange Belt Conference and district championship teams and the Kowboys’ run to the regional semi-finals. They also recorded pretty much identical stats.
For those reasons, recently graduated Osceola High seniors Jordan Mason and Luke McCrimon are the choice for Osceola News Gazette Boys Basketball Co-Players of the Year.
“Absolutely could not have been a better decision,” Jordan’s coach and father Steve Mason said. “Those two have been inseparable since they were five years old and both had great seasons at Osceola. I felt both were deserving of the recognition.”
Jordan, Osceola’s point guard, averaged 16.9 points, 4.4 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. McCrimon averaged 16.5 points, 3.9 assists, 4.3 rebounds ands 2.4 steals a game. Together, they led Osceola to three straight district titles, two OBC Championships and three regional appearances.
Under their leadership, Osceola has averaged 20 wins over the last three years, including a 46-11 mark against tough schedules the last two.
“Since I have been a child, the only thing I ever wanted to do was play basketball for Osceola High,” Jordan said. “So my career has been a dream come true. It’s an honor to share this award with Luke. He’s a special player and he’s been my best friend.”
“We’ve won a lot of games and championships and had a few disappointments along the way. Personally, my biggest regret not getting to a Final Four, but for the most part we accomplished a lot,” McCrimon said. “A big part of any success I have had belongs to Jordan, our chemistry on the court has always been o 2the charts.”
Steve Mason—who stepped down as head coach after the season—is our Coach of the Year.
“Although it’s not always been easy because of the criticism that comes with coaching your own son, it’s been a joy an incredibly satisfying coaching both Jordan and Luke for all those years,” Steve Mason said. “For us to go out together means a lot to me personally.”
Both Jordan Mason and McCrimon are still weighing their college options with a decision to come in July, the coach said.
