The Osceola County School District has narrowed down its finalist lists of 10 for Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year and announced them Tuesday.
Judges selected the finalists based on their applications. They have received surprise announcement visits from Superintendent Dr. Mark Shanoff, and will gather, along with the other Teacher and School-Related Employee of the Year nominees from other schools and departments at the District’s annual Education Awards ceremony on Wednesday March 12 at Osceola Heritage Park.
The Teacher of the Year finalists are:
Tanzeem Alam — Kindergarten Teacher, Cypress Elementary
Rachel Centeno — World Language Teacher, NeoCity Academy
Coreen Goerner —Math Coach, Tohopekaliga High
Yvette Gonzalez — Kindergarten Teacher, Mill Creek Elementary
Jesi Lehman —Pre-AP World History & Geography, World History, Celebration K-8
Stephanie McKeown — STEM Teacher, Narcoossee Middle
Deonna Perez —First Grade Teacher, Canoe Creek K-8
Sullymar Reices-Irizarry — Program Specialist, Adult Learning Center Osceola
Leslie Rivera — AP/Honors Biology Teacher, Professional and Technical High
Jacquelyn Seddon — Math Teacher, Harmony High
The School-Related Employee of the Year finalists are:
Cecilia Coello Amado — IT Tech, Celebration High
Shelli Ashcroft — Kitchen Manager, Neptune Elementary
Joe Castillo — ESOL Paraprofessional, Lakeview Elementary
Justin Bruscato Douglas — Program Specialist, Exceptional Student Education
Carol Etter — Instructional Technology Supervisor, Media and Instructional Technology
Tammy Hoover — Data Entry Records Clerk, Gateway High
Moses Maldanado — Head Custodian, Pleasant Hill Elementary
Johanna Miranda — Executive Secretary, Canoe Creek K-8
Sherry-Ann Ramjattan — Executive Secretary, Liberty High
Yodaliz Aviles Reyes — IEP Assistant, Horizon Middle
The winners will move on to the state-level competition for Florida Teacher of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year.
