In anticipation of the Osceola County Home Purchase Assistance Program (SHIP) opening for pre-applications on Monday, Oct. 7, UF/IFAS Extension Osceola County is offering two Homebuyer Education classes to help residents meet one of the key requirements for applying to the program: completing a certified homebuyer education course from a HUD-Approved Agency. The SHIP program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers in Osceola County. With funds being limited, residents are encouraged to apply early once the pre-application window opens on Oct. 7.
The online live classes, titled "A Home of Your Own," will be available on the following dates:
In English, Oct. 1 and 3, from 5-9 p.m.
En Español: Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Both sessions will be held online, and participants will receive a certificate of completion, which is required to apply for SHIP assistance. The classes will cover essential topics such as the homebuying process, financial readiness, and the responsibilities of homeownership.
Registration — Interested participants can sign up for the classes at https://ocfcs.eventbrite.com. For more information on the classes, contact UF/IFAS Extension Osceola County at Johanna Gomez jgramirez@ufl.edu.
