Postseason hopes, championship trophies and regional playoff berths will be on the line this coming week during the boys and girls district basketball tournaments.
Girls will play Monday quarterfinals, Wednesday semifinals and Friday finals. Boys will play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Three county girls teams -- Tohopekaliga in District 7A-6, St. Cloud in 6A-7 and Gateway in 5A-7 -- are No. 1 seeds in their tournaments. Harmony is the top seed in the 7A-6 boys tournament
In 7A-6, Poinciana will host Lake Nona on Monday, and the winner will play at Tohopekaliga Wednesday. Celebration will host Osceola Monday, and the winner gets Harmony on Wednesday. Wednesday's winners meet Friday.
In 6A-7, St. Cloud will play Monday's Bartow-Liberty winner Wednesday, and that winner gets Wednesday's Kathleen-Lakeland winner in Friday's championship. Notably missing is Lake Gibson, which won the district title last year and reached the Class 6A Final Four ... and did not field a team this year.
District 5A-7 No. 1 Gateway starts a run back to the state tournament Wednesday when it hosts Monday's Lake Region-Jones winner.
City of Life Christian Academy is the No. 2 seed in the 2A-8 tournament and will play Lakeland All Saints Monday for the right to play the Moore Haven-Oasis Christian winner Wednesday.
On the boys side, in 7A-6, Lake Nona will host Tohopekaliga on Tuesday, and the winner will play at Harmony Thursday. Osceola will host Celebration Tuesday, and the winner gets Poinciana on Thursday. Thursday's winners meet Saturday.
St. Cloud is the No. 2 seed in 6A-7, and will host Tuesday's Bartow-Kathleen winner on Thursday. The other side of the bracket comes from No. 1 Lakeland, Lake Gibson and Lakeland.
Gateway is the No. 3 5A-7 seed, and hosts Lake Buena Vista Tuesday. They play Tuesday's Lake Region-Lake Wales winner Thursday.
City of Life is No. 5 in 2A-8 and plays All Saints Monday for a chance at No. 1 Victory Christian Thursday.
District champions receive regional playoff berths. Each region will also include four at-large teams based on FHSAA computer rankings, and the regions will be seeded by those rankings.
