Calling future legislatures: join Rep. Arrington’s bill writing contest

The Office of State Rep. Kristen A. Arrington (D-Kissimmee) is launching a House District 46 Bill Writing Contest.

According to Arrington’s staff, the contest serves as an opportunity to encourage high school students to actively engage in the legislative process and strategically address issues within our community.

The call is for all high school students in House District 46 — Poinciana and Liberty High’s districts, most of Osceola High, and some of Celebration, Gateway and Tohopekaliga — to identify an issue within the community, prepare a one-page solution to address the issue, and submit the solution to Arrington’s office by Oct. 1st. She will sponsor the winning bill idea as one of her seven bills in the 2024 Legislative Session.

“The Bill Writing Contest is an exciting opportunity to engage with future leaders from our community. It aims to inspire the next generation to find their voice in advocating for policies that will affect their future,” Arrington said. “Our office is excited to bring this program to the high school students in the district because we believe in encouraging young people to be active constituents. We hope this program excites students about civic engagement and gives them the opportunity to experience the bill-making process.”
