The Home Depot Foundation has been known around St. Cloud for helping upgrade the homes of local veterans, making them more accessible-friendly and energy efficient.
Last week, the crew helped a younger set of residents — the children who frequent the new Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida branch at 10th Street and Virginia Avenue.
Workers from the St. Cloud Home Depot store were hard at work last Wednesday morning, before the real serious heat set in. By the afternoon, the crew installed new fencing and a shed and planted mulch and new landscaping around the building, including fresh flowers on the 10th Street side.
Reba Stoops lives and works in St. Cloud, and worked with the foundation to help give a beacon in the community a little extra shine.
“After the club opened, I decided I wanted to do what I could to make it more aesthetically appealing,” she said.
St. Cloud Boys & Girls Club Director Alex Lindsay said the Home Depot came to him and the club. With the club’s summer camp in full swing, he said he was grateful for the contribution.
“I’m just so blessed by the community that’s around us, supporting us like they have in just a short time.”
