Police report sheds light on pizza delivery-turned-stabbing of pregnant woman

Police seek help finding male accomplice who remains at-large

A newly-released arrest affidavit gives new detail, including the police account of how a pregnant woman was stabbed and robbed Sunday night in a Kissimmee hotel.

The incident occurred just before midnight at the Riviera Motel on east U.S. Highway 192, near Florida's Turnpike and about two miles east of the pizzeria where the suspect worked and brought the food from, the charging report says.

Through their investigation, deputies allege Brianna Alvelo, 22, was upset with a $2 tip she received for delivering pizza and wings to the hotel from Marcos Pizza, located at 192 and Fortune Road about two miles west of the hotel, earlier in the night. She returned with a masked Hispanic male suspect. The male suspect has yet to be identified or apprehended, deputies say.

Alvelo is charged with home invasion with a firearm, kidnapping, aggravated assault and, as of Thursday, an attempted murder charge was upgraded to first-degree premeditated murder but records do not show who or if anyone died due to the attack. Alvelo, whose identification shows a Poinciana address and had no arrest record in Osceola County prior to Sunday, is being held at the Osceola County Jail on no bond after appearing in front of a judge Thursday.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the hotel around 11:47 p.m. Sunday in reference to a stabbing and found the victim had multiple stab wounds. Her boyfriend told deputies they, along with the victim's five-year-old daughter, were there, and around 10 p.m. they ordered food from the restaurant, and it was delivered by a "shorter, heavier Hispanic female." When the victim paid the $33.10 bill with a $50, the victim said the female began walking away and stated delivery drivers "don't provide change." After searching for smaller bills the victim handed the female enough cash for the order and a $2 tip, to which the victim "rolled her eyes and walked away without saying anything."

Later, when the hotel room occupants were asleep, "a tall Hispanic male, and short heavier set Hispanic female, both in all black with facemasks on," knocked on the door and then forced themselves into the room when the boyfriend answered. The male brandished a silver revolver and the female pulled out a pocketknife as they began rummaging through the contents of the room. Deputies say they smashed the victim's cellphone and her daughter's Nintendo Switch, then when the victim turned her back to shield her daughter, she felt a strike on her back, which she thought was a punch until she saw blood coming from her back.

The victim was stabbed 14 times, police say, and was taken to a hospital to treat the injuries and underwent surgery for a punctured lung. She learned at the hospital she was a few weeks pregnant.

Deputies said video evidence of the area showed a Hispanic female pizza delivery driver wearing all black arrive at the hotel in a red Toyota Camry at around 10 p.m. About 90 minutes later, a red Camry matching the one driven by the delivery driver pulled into a parking lot adjacent to the hotel, where two suspects matching the victim's description walked to the hotel room in question at about 11:33 p.m. and left three minutes later running back toward the area of the red Camry. Two minutes later the red Camry is seen leaving the lot onto Cross Prairie Parkway.

Police interviewed the restaurant manager who confirmed Alvelo made deliveries Sunday in the red Camry, including the order to the Riviera Motel based on video evidence, and that she clocked out of work about one hour before the incident occurred. Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Alvelo at the restaurant Monday night.
