Expected to be open Winter 2024; Calypso Cay station to open soon
Osceola County will soon be able to move Fire Rescue EMS units and personnel out of a station in Polk County into its own facility in Poinciana, after officials ceremoniously broke ground Monday on Station 85 on Cypress Parkway.
Station 85, located just west of Doverplum Avenue, will become Osceola County's 16th Fire/Rescue station, with an ability to better serve residents along Cypress Parkway.
“We recognize that the foundation of a thriving community lies in ensuring the safety of its members. This relocation reaffirms our commitment to this principle and exemplifies a proactive approach to achieving it,” said Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington, whose district 3 includes the area. “Osceola County remains steadfast in its mission to create a safer, more resilient place to live. Together, we are shaping a future where public safety is paramount so that everyone can thrive."
The four-bay, $9.5 million station, paid for with local property tax dollars, is scheduled to be completed in Winter 2024. Expect it to look much like others recently opened, like ones on Pleasant Hill Road near Valencia College and on Boggy Creek Road near Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. It will be designed to withstand winds of 150 mph, and have enough open-use space to be able to host small group meetings and potentially be a polling place.
