Osceola County has announced that its Corrections Chief Bryan Holt has been nominated by the Florida Association of Counties to serve as the jail administrator representative on the Florida Model Jail Standards Working Group.

“It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to serve on the Florida Model Jail Standards Working Group,” Holt said. “As a law enforcement professional, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our county’s correctional department operates in a safe, humane manner, and is in compliance with the highest standards set forth by the state. I look forward to collaborating with fellow experts and contributing to the advancement of best practices within the corrections community.”

Holt has served with Osceola’s Corrections Department since February 2018, as part of a 35-year career in corrections.

Per State Statutes, every county jail in Florida must adhere to the standards, a comprehensive set of guidelines designed to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of incarcerated individuals, as well as the staff working within the facilities. To maintain and develop the standards, the Florida Model Jail Standards Working Group was established by State Statutes, comprising professionals from various disciplines associated with the criminal justice system.

The Working Group shapes the future of Florida’s correctional facilities, working to review existing standards, recommend updates, and develop new guidelines to address emerging challenges and advancements in the field.

“I am confident that his expertise and passion for serving others will significantly contribute to the Florida Model Jail Standards Working Group,” stated Osceola Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer. “Chief Holt and his team are focused on being innovation leaders in the field -- and as a result our county’s Corrections Department reflects the Commission’s unwavering commitment to public safety.”
