New 417 North onramp to Landstar/Buenaventura now open -- with instructions

If you use State Road 417 northbound from the direction of Osceola Parkway, John Young Parkway or Orange Blossom Trail to access Landstar Boulevard or Buenaventura Boulevard to get into Buenaventura Lakes, be advise that there is now a new offramp to get to Landstar -- and it starts about a mile sooner than it used to.

The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) announced that the new ramp opened late Thursday night. Drivers enter the new ramp approximately one mile before the existing exit. With the new ramp open, the existing northbound 417 ramp to  Landstar Boulevard will be permanently closed.

Navigation services on apps such as Waze, Apple Maps and Google Maps will need a few days to be updated with this change (i.e. your Google Maps will freak out a bit the first time you use it -- it will learn.). As a result, motorists are advised to follow the roadway signs and not those devices. (LOOK AT THE ROAD, NOT YOUR PHONE OR SCREEN!)

If you miss the new exit ramp, continue on to the next exit (Boggy Creek Road), turn right at the light, then right onto Lake Nona Boulevard, left on Wyndham Lakes Boulevard, then left on Rhode Island Woods Boulevard to get back to Landstar.

Also, traffic entering northbound 417 from Florida’s Turnpike will now have to merge to the left for 417, as the right lane will exit onto Landstar Boulevard.

It's all part of a project to widen and improve 417 from John Young Parkway to Landstar Boulevard, which started in March 2021 and is expected to be complete in spring 2024, CFX says.
