Motorcyclist killed in Sunday night Poinciana hit-and-run; FHP seeks car, driver involved

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in finding a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday evening.

A 24-year-old Orlando man riding a motorcycle was killed just after 7:30 p.m. at Monterey Road and KOA Street in Poinciana, just east of KOA Elementary. FHP reports the man was headed westbound on KOA on a 2005 Honda motorcycle. Another car, possibly a metallic green 2008-10 Honda Accord that may now be missing its front bumper (it was recovered from the scene) was traveling southbound on Monterey and. The car slowed for a stop sign but did not yield, and struck the motorcyclist.

The impact redirected the motorcyclist into the oncoming path of a Ford SUV. The biker hit the front left of the SUV and was pronounced dead on scene, FHP's report said.

Anyone with information about this crash and the whereabouts of the fleeing car is asked to call FHP at 407-737-2213 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

FHP reminds motorists that leaving the scene of a crash that results in property damage, injury, or death is against the law. Stay, and after making sure all those involved are out of harms way, gather information from the other driver(s), take photos of the vehicles and information and file a report online.
