The Friday night Movie in the Park is back!
Kissimmee Utility Authority, in partnership with the City of Kissimmee, will begin its Movie in the Park, a event the first Friday of each month through March weather permitting, on Oct. 4.
“Inside Out 2,” will be shown starting at sunset on a giant 50-foot screen at the Veterans Lawn of Kissimmee Lakefront Park; bring a blanket or lawn chair to best enjoy the movie. The movie will also feature closed captioning for the hearing impaired. Onsite food trucks will be available.
Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with KUA’s inflatable Kids Power Zone, free popcorn, a craft station, photo booth, and prize giveaways. (Children participating in inflatable activities must be accompanied by an adult to sign a waiver. Sign it ahead of time at kua.com/waiver.)
KUA will have its new SunCatcher Solar Energy Trailer, to show customers how to lower their monthly electric bills and perform on-site energy audits.
Also from KUA, at its Wednesday, Oct. 2 Board of Directors meeting, Melissa Thacker, a construction senior project manager and Kissimmee native of over 30 years, took the oath of office to begin a five-year term on the board. She was named a Director as the board selected its officers for the year:
Chairman: Manuel Ortega
Vice Chairman: Rae Hemphill
Secretary: Ethel Urbina
Assistant Secretary: Reginald Hardee
The five-member board sets policy direction for the utility, approves annual budgets, sets rates, approves major purchases and directs the president and general manager responsible for KUA’s day-to-day operations.
