The Kissimmee Fire Department can now train firefighters on trucks and other lifesaving apparatus to provide a top-level of training and allow responders to know what they’re doing before they do it in real life.

KPD unveiled it Wednesday.

The city has acquired the Sim-Tech Fire Vehicle Training Simulator, a new driving simulator on the cutting edge of current training technology. It will provide, as the city called it, “Immersive training experiences tailored to a diverse array of emergency scenarios. Boasting a full dashboard, steering wheel, and pedals mirroring those of actual fire apparatus, along with five separate screens for comprehensive field simulation, the simulator provides an unparalleled training environment.”

Kissimmee firefighters will get the benefit of over 225 pre-designed Fire/EMS training scenarios, the city said, that can be fully customized to simulate environmental conditions such as rain, fog, day, or night. The intent is to provide firefighters with the skills and confidence needed to navigate complex emergency situations effectively.

"Kissimmee Fire Department is always looking at innovative ways to enhance the training and safety of our Firefighters,” KPD Jim Walls said. “This driving simulator is a key part of our strategy to keep our community and staff safe and prepared."
