Accident that closed I-4 overnight in Osceola kills Davenport woman

A fatal accident overnight into Wednesday closed Interstate 4 until just after sunrise.

A 28-year-old woman from Davenport was killed when her Kia Forte, stopped in a westbound construction area around 12:47 a.m., was rear-ended at Mile Marker 62, near World Drive and State Road 417, by a Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by a 33-year-old Champions Gate man, who did not stop for the traffic. The Forte then collided with a semi truck in front of it.

The woman was pronounced deceased on scene; the man was taken to Celebration Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, through lanes of I-4 westbound were closed until about 7 a.m.; traffic had to use the exit lanes for Celebration and 417 to pass by.
