AAA ‘Tow to Go’ activated for end-of-year holidays

Like most everything else Christmas-related, holiday traffic is hectic enough — without driving impaired during the holy holidays or New Year’s.

As much a tradition as mistletoe and counting down to the start of a new year, AAA will be working to keep impaired drivers off the road this season. The Auto Club Group has activated its Tow to Go program in Florida among other states, and will run through 6 a.m. Jan. 2.

“If you’re faced with the decision of driving impaired, put down those keys and pick up the phone to call Tow to Go,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “We’ll dispatch a truck to take you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius.”

AAA says its service technicians expect to rescue more than 937,000 drivers with car trouble during the upcoming holidays — so Tow to Go should be treated as a last resort. So plan and and identify a designated driver or ride sharing service before you party with that “holiday cheer.”

But, if you don’t, here’s the particulars: Tow to Go is free and available to AAA members and non-members. It’s a confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius. And it may not be available in some rural areas, or in severe weather.

To call for the service, call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246.
