Here's what AAA says
After a period of falling gas prices, AAA says they have leveled off and may creep back up this week as oil prices start to rise.
"Crude oil and gasoline futures rose last week, cooling off the downward trend of prices at the pump," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. "The price gains are being attributed to optimism that the Federal Reserve's interest rate cut would boost the global economy and energy demand."
The U.S. price of crude rose more than $3 (+5%) last week, settling at $71.92 per barrel on Friday. Meanwhile, gasoline futures rose 11 cents per gallon on New York's commodities exchange.
Florida's average was $3.13 going into Monday, the same as the average in Osceola County. Those have held steady over the last week, but are down about a quarter from this time last month and down 53 cents since this time last year ($3.65). Again, those were the averages in Osceola over the last week, month and year.
