County swimmers, cross country runners qualify for state meets

The Harmony girls and, for the first time, the Tohopekaliga boys have qualified for Friday’s Class 4A state cross country meet at Apalachee State Park in Tallahassee.

In addition, Harmony’s Joel Jean and Celebration’s Jared Falchook qualified as individuals in the boys race, and the Storm’s Catalina Edwards is in the girls race.

Also this weekend, in Stuart, seven Osceola County individuals and two relay teams earned spots in the Class 3A and 4A state swim meets.

Celebration comes in seeded in the top half of the pack in 4A in the 200 medley and freestyle relays, and senior Felipe Costa will swim the 100 freestyle and backstroke.

In the girls meet, Harmony’s Sarina Steel will go in the 50 freestyle, and Meredith and Amelia Wagner are in the diving competition.

In Class 3A, St. Cloud’s Silas Camacho will dive, and Gateway’s Delyn McDonald earned a spot in the state 100 butterfly race.
