FHP: 2 teens killed in Wednesday Pleasant Hill Road crash

Two 17-year-olds were killed Wednesday afternoon when their lost control on on Pleasant Hill Road and hit another car and a tree, Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

According to the report, the victims' car, driven by a Clermont boy, was headed northbound on Pleasant Hill near Suzette Drive, less than a mile south of John Young Parkway, when for an unknown reason it left the road and went onto the shoulder. The driver overcorrected and traveled into the southbound lanes. An oncoming car driven by a 27-year-old Kissimmee woman struck the right side of the victims' car, which traveled off the road and struck a pole.

The young driver and the teen passenger, from Kissimmee, were pronounced deceased on the scene. The other driver was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. The FHP report showed all three involved were wearing seat belts.

The crash, which forced the closure of southbound Pleasant Hill Road well into the evening, remains under investigation.
