Hires made during School District job fair; more on the way

A total of 54 candidates interviews at last week’s Osceola County School District Transportation Services job fair, and according to its spokesperson, 19 of those people applied to become bus drivers and 10 applied to become bus attendants.

“Currently, we need roughly 37 more drivers,” the department’s Zach Downes said. “Now, we are getting ready for our next job fair.”

It’s a quick turnaround. The next fair will be on Feb. 2. Unlike the other morning fairs, this one will be in the afternoon to evening (3-7 p.m.). The department will be hiring for positions within both the Transportation and Elementary Education departments.

Those interested in becoming drivers do not need to have their CDL (Commercial Drivers Licenses) when they apply. The district will provide free training for interested candidates. The candidate will be paid for their time once they successfully complete the training course.

The department encourages applicants to apply for open positions at jobs.osceolaschools. net. If they apply online before showing up to the job fair, it will shorten the amount of time they will spend on site, and make the interview process go quicker.

Other morning job fairs are scheduled for March, April and May.
