St. Cloud’s Morgan Beaulieu signs Arkansas State golf grant

Recently-graduated St. Cloud senior and decorated Orange Belt Conference champion Morgan Beaulieu will continue her golfing career at Arkansas State, signing a full grant-inaid scholarship offer from the Sun Belt Conference member last Friday.

She becomes the first St. Cloud girls’ golfer to sign with a Division I program. She will play for Arkansas State women’s golf head coach MJ Desbiens-Shaw.

“We are very excited to add Morgan to our roster,” said Shaw. “She is a multi-sport athlete who will make an immediate impact on our team. She has gained a lot of experience in the last few years playing a highly competitive tournament schedule. We are looking forward to the start of our season and cannot wait to have her join our Red Wolves family.”

If she qualifies in the top five for Arkansas State, she could make her college debut as early as Sept. 3 at the USA Intercollegiate Championships in Mobile, Al.

“Arkansas State should be a great fit for Morgan,” St. Cloud head coach Jim Endicott said. “I absolutely believe she will have a chance to challenge for playing time in her first season. Each year she was in our program she continued to improve, I do not think she has even scratched her potential yet.”

Beaulieu won Orange Belt Conference and district titles and placed third in a very tough regional that included state powers Dr. Phillips and Lake Nona. Her stellar play helped qualify the Lady Bulldogs for the FHSAA state tournament. She shot 73-75-148 to finish in a tie for fourth place individually.

Beaulieu is the only girls’ golfer from Osceola County to win four consecutive Orange Belt Conference Tournaments, winning two at Tohopekaliga High before transferring to St. Cloud for her junior season. She was the OBC champion and Osceola News Gazette’s county Girls Golfer of the Year all four years, the first in the county to do that since Gateway’s May Tomimbang in the 2000s.

Beaulieu won six events in the last calendar year and added four more top five finishes. She was the 2021 Top 50 Tour Champion and the 2020 Top 50 National Player of the Year. She also qualified for the Notah Begay Junior Golf National Championship. She recently made match play at the Florida Women’s Amateur and is currently ranked No. 502 in the junior golf rankings. In addition to golf, Beaulieu played flag football and was named All-County playing wide receiver/defensive back.

In addition to golf, Beaulieu played flag football for the Lady Bulldogs, earning All-OBC honors in that sport. She was a finalist for the Osceola News Gazette’s Female Athlete of the Year award. Of the last six seniors to graduate from the St. Cloud golf program, five are now playing college golf. Endicott announced that Eric Hernandez and Austin Price recently signed and will play college at Rend Lake Junior Community College in Ina, Illinois. Earlier Tanner Allore signed with St. Thomas and Bryan Hernandez is playing at Eastern Florida University.
