Kissimmee firefighters praised for mutual aid duty

The Kissimmee Fire Department is congratulating Firefighters Fernando Almeida and Rion Strum for being recognized during the Orlando Fire Conference Opening Ceremony on Feb. 20. Both firefighters were recognized after assisting St. Cloud Fire Rescue with a structure fire on Feb. 8.

The Church and Community Assistance Program is opening a new office in downtown Kissimmee Thursday. Founded by Kissimmee City Commissioner Olga Gonzalez, the charity connects people in need with services and agencies that could help them.

4 people killed, including girl, 5, in Osceola crash

Three people were killed on Tuesday, including a 5-year-old girl in an Osceola County traffic crash, after a van with eight occupants, was hit from behind on State Road 429.

Palm Bay man driving wrong way on U.S 192 dies in head-on crash

A Palm Bay man was killed early Tuesday morning after his truck hit another truck head-on and then went up in flames. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said that the 69-year-old male from Palm Bay was driving a 2004 Dodge pick-up truck the wrong way, going westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S.

Pedestrian killed trying to cross U.S. Highway 192

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle trying to cross U.S. Highway 192 on Sunday night. According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Robyn Ukockis, 26, of Kissimmee, was driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza westbound on U.S. 192 near Vineland road at about 7:05 p.m.

City gathers public input for the five-year consolidated plan

The city of Kissimmee is gathering public input to set the priority goals for the Five-Year Consolidated Plan that will govern funding allocations for the Community Block Grant and HOME program funds.   The survey, which is available online at www.kissimmee.
