Osceola County announces new COVID-19 Business Task Force

With COVID-19 cases surging and a worrisome Thanksgiving Holiday approaching, Osceola County Commission Chairwoman Viviana Janer announced the launch of a COVID-19 Education and Compliance Task Force on Thursday.

The city of Kissimmee hosted a swearing-in ceremony for Mayor Olga González (seat 5), Commissioner Olga Castaño (seat 1), and Commissioner Carlos Alvarez III (seat 3), to the City Commission on Tuesday, Nov, 17, during a City Commission meeting held at the Kissimmee Civic Center.

City again partners with supermarket to hand out Thanksgiving meals

The city of Kissimmee once again partnered with Sedano’s Supermarkets to giveaway Thanksgiving meals to pre-selected families. A total of 150 families were selected through the city and local nonprofits by those with the greatest need.

Pains of the pandemic: Osceola County leads the state in unemployment

Thousands of Osceola County residents who lost their jobs in the tourism and service industries because of the COVID-19 pandemic are still struggling to meet basic needs like buying food and paying rent. Some have gained employment elsewhere, and some have returned to their jobs.

Health Department offering free flu shots Saturday

 The Florida Department of Health in Osceola County (FDOH-Osceola) will host a free drive thru flu shot event on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at its main campus located at 1875 Fortune Road in Kissimmee. Flu shots will be available for children and adults while supplies last.

Toho Water Board resumes in-person meetings

Beginning on Nov. 18, Toho Water Authority (Toho) board of supervisor meetings will return to in person meetings in the Bruce Van Meter Board Room inside the administrative building at 951 MLK Blvd. in Kissimmee. Meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m.
