Kissimmee man, 70, hit and killed crossing U.S. 192

A 70-year-old Kissimmee man was hit and killed by a vehicle when he tried to cross U.S. Highway 192 on Thursday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31-year-old Naples man was driving a sedan-type vehicle westbound in the center lane of U.S. 192 at about 8:30 p.m.

St. Cloud citywide garage sale dates set

The city of St. Cloud has set April 16, 17 and 18, and Nov. 19, 20 and 21, as the dates for the citywide garage sales this year. All residents and property owners within the city limits automatically qualify for the citywide no-fee permit and do not need a hard-copy permit for those dates.

Kissimmee driver hits pedestrian trying to cross OBT

A Kissimmee driver hit a pedestrian trying to cross Orange Blossom Trail on Wednesday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 22-year-old woman from Kissimmee was driving a SUV southbound on Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County at about 7:55 p.m.

North Poinciana Boulevard set for resurfacing project

Osceola County officials announced North Poinciana Boulevard is tentatively scheduled for resurfacing from March 11 through March 26. The work will span from U.S. Highway 192 North to Vineland Road. The work will be performed daily from 8 p.m to 5 a.m.

Osceola County’s first ‘Spoke Site’ opens in St. Cloud

As part of a statewide initiative to increase outreach to minority communities, Osceola County’s first “Spoke Site” opened Wednesday at the St. Cloud Civic Center. The site can provide up to 500 doses a day to area residents.
Located at 2380 Smith St. in Kissimmee, the vaccine site will be able to administer up to 200 doses a day of no-cost COVID-19 vaccine seven days a week, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. or until all 200 doses have been administered.

Osceola County’s first community COVID-19 vaccination site at the city of Kissimmee’s Chambers Park Community Center has opened in a collaboration between the Osceola County Office of Emergency Management, Florida Department of Health in Osceola County and Florida Department of Emergency Management.

When the pandemic forced the Osceola County to end public meetings overnight and go virtual, but still having to keep government and the public connected, one employee had to figure that out and quick. That county employee was Information Security Analyst Brandon Pritchett.
