Wild Florida debuts expanded drive-thru safari

Wild Florida opened its expanded Drive-thru Safari Park today. Once an 85-acre exhibit, it has expanded to a total of 170 acres. It will eventually feature more exotic animals including gemsbok, kudu and springbok.

St. Cloud City Manager: Cooper was "passionate"

Longtime City Council Member Charles E. “Chuck” Cooper, whose service to the City spanned nearly four decades, passed away on Saturday morning. He was 72. Mr. Cooper was first elected to the City Council in 1985.

State bans “critical race theory” in public schools

The Florida Board of Education on Thursday banned “critical race theory” from being taught in public schools. Gov. Ron DeSantis, who appoints the 7-member board, lobbied for the effort and said it will prevent history lessons that “denigrate the Founding Fathers.

'Ben and Jerry' move to Flamingo Island

Two capybaras that came to Gatorland from a sanctuary in St. Cloud this fall have moved to the park’s Flamingo Island.  They’ve grown from 15 to 50 pounds and guests will be able to check them out from a distance before an interactive encounter opens in the future.

Suspected burglar crashes at JYP and Mabette

Video captured by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office aviation unit shows a suspected burglar crashing into an oncoming car while attempting to flee a crime scene Tuesday. Kevin Arzola, 33, was arrested on charges of burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
