The heat is on, and KUA sets new all-time High for electricity use

The heat index this week has approached or topped 105 this week with a lack of cooling afternoon thunderstorms. Accordingly, residents have set a new all-time record for Kissimmee Utility Authority electricity use. KUA recorded an instantaneous system peak of 400.1 megawatts at 5:13 p.m.

NeoCity back in business with tech firm replacing UCF

SkyWater Technology is producing semiconductors for the military at the $75 million fabrication facility at NeoCity built by Osceola County. More importantly, they’re hiring. The Minnesota-based company is looking for engineers, managers and technicians.

Osceola School Board votes to require masks for students through 8th grade thru Oct. 4 with opt-out clause

Tuesday night, late into a four-and-a-half hour meeting, the Osceola County School Board approved a mask mandate similar to one in place in Orange County that allows parents to opt-out their children in writing. The motion passed by a 4-1 vote, with Board member Jon Arguello voting against.

State Attorney: Deputy who slammed Liberty High student to ground won't face charges

OHP COVID-19 test site open; online appointments available

The COVID-19 testing site at Osceola Heritage Park is now open, and will remain open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is a free walk-up site in front of Osceola County Stadium; enter the park off Bill Beck Boulevard across the street from Gateway High School and park on the right.
