Kissimmee offers businesses a Boost

The city of Kissimmee wants to see its existing businesses thrive. And, bring new ones in to thrive. And, see startup companies thrive. It’s all part of “a healthy economic ecosystem.” The city stands ready to help and support all of it.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has released new draft Lake Management Plans for area lake chains, such as the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, and will be hosting public meetings to gather feedback on the plans.

Council on Aging to manage St. Cloud Pantry

Osceola County has more than 20 food pantries, spanning from Poinciana to the St. Cloud region of Osceola County.

Kissimmee company hosts waste collection summit

Underground Refuse Systems began in 2017 as a locally-owned way to eliminate some of the problems of collecting and hauling trash in urban areas. The City of Kissimmee signed on as its first client that year, and this year the cities of Clearwater, Fla.

Help Now dedicates Montalvo-inspired mural

While October was Domestic Violence Awareness month, as the calendar flips to November and the holiday months, the message is that people should always be aware of dysfunction in relationships.
Early voting goes through Friday at 5 p.m. at the Supervisor of Elections office and Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Cloud Civic Center. Election Day will be on Tuesday.

St. Cloud Council Seat 3 election Tuesday

Kolby Urban and Jose Martinez will settle the special election for Seat 3 Tuesday night. The two — Urban got 48.8 percent and Martinez 27.8 percent of 4,410 votes — were the top vote-getters in the Oct. 5 primary in a five-way race that included Phillip Lantry, Daniel Minckler and Victor Rivera.

Kissimmee café for sale after 20 years

Susan Ramirez purchased the house on Orlando Avenue that would become her eponymous cafe nearly 20 years. She had experience in the restaurant business and knew the location — next door to the Osceola County Courthouse — would draw customers.
