Education law appeal put on hold

News Service of Florida A federal appeals court has put on hold a battle about a 2022 Florida law that restricts instruction about gender identity and sexual orientation in schools, after attorneys said they were in settlement talks.

BankFlorida cuts ribbon on St. Cloud “community bank” branch

Less than a year after breaking ground on its new branch location at U.S. Highway 192 and Old Hickory Tree Road, BankFlorida officially cut the ribbon on it Thursday.

AAA: Gas prices drop for 3rd week; coincidence or a trend?

In mid-August, Florida average gas prices reached an average of $3.85 a gallon. After three weeks of declines, that figure is down to $3.61 as of Sunday.  But, it may be more of a coincidence than a trend, as speculation that the price of oil will soon rise, taking gas prices with it.

St. Cloud breaks ground on Fire Station 34 on Nora Tyson

By the end of 2023, the St. Cloud Fire Department hopes to serve residents on the east side of the county in a quicker and better fashion. The city ceremoniously broke ground Friday on Fire Station 34 on Nora Tyson Road, just east of Narcoossee Road and north of U.S. Highway 192.

Last week, local chapters of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), the Joshua Stevens Chapter of St. Cloud and Abraham Salle Chapter of Celebration, presented 5,900 Constitution booklets to the Osceola County School District ahead of Constitution Day on Sunday, Sept.
